Fantasy book illustrations

This is a series of illustrations I made for the fantasy book Mundo Desolado (Desolate World), written by Eduardo Krauze and published by Pendragon.

It portrays Kalian, the protagonist, in his journey through a desert land, facing dangerous monsters and awakening his inner powers in the process.

I loved working on these and am glad to hear from the author that I`ll be making the cover art for the continuation of the story.

This art is completely 2D working mainly on procreate, using the method I learned on Eytan Zana`s gumroad class.

This one is a mix of 2D and 3D.
I used zbrush to sculpt the sand dogs and used it as a base for the painting.

Same process as the previous one, but playing more with transpose master.

I loved to work on this scene. It is very different from the other ones, with less action and more color mood.

The giant serpent here is also made with a 3D base, but with a lot of paintover. The rest is all 2D.

This one is well ballanced work with 2D and 3D and was very exciting to make and explore different effects for the energy.
